About Eagle Island Fruit & Seafood

Produce/General Store Seafood Market

Located at 2500 US-421, Wilmington, NC 28401, Eagle Island Fruit & Seafood operates as a seafood market serving Wilmington in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under general store, produce market, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–7 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (910) 762-1193. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 2,815 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded seafood markets in Wilmington.

Wilmington is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Wilmington is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

OMG, I LOVE THIS STORE!! I have been stopping by here whenever I am even near Hwy. 421 in Wilmington for over 25 years. Where else can you get fresh seafood, fresh fruits and veggies, AND hand dipped ice cream? This store has it all in a quaint, non-flashy, or gaudy way. It's been here forever, and you may take one look and think it's just a roadside stand not worth stopping, well that would be your mistake. The glass bottle sodas in the old roll-top coolers are the coldest in town and the old time country store feel is real, not gimmicky like some other places ( looking at you Cracker Barrel). This place IS an old country store and stays busy regardless.

What an amazing old fashioned general store. All the popular candies and snacks from my youth. Slide top, floor based cold cases with glass bottled sodas. Fresh pork meat they butcher on their own farm. And oh, the jams, jellies, and fruit butters; all homemade, not mass produced. Fresh seasonal fruits and vegetebles that look like someone truly cared for the plants they came from, not something that has watering machines and is never seen or touched by a human after planting. Walking on the wooden floors and listening to your shoes thump was very nostalgic as well. They also sell portioned fresh baked goods. I bought a thick slice of Smith Island Cake for my train ride home the following day and it was these best I have had outside of Maryland.

Old school Country Store with a great fresh seafood market next door. A must stop if you are near the Battleship or Waterfront. Seafood is well below near beach market prices. Country store is fun and you will leave with something for sure. Like a blast from the past, you will find alot of One Off items. Highly recommend.
